Read, share and link to anything here. Treat the research as research, check numbers against your own data, and don't let HOBO make decisions about people without a person reviewing them.
Who we are
Collapse Index Labs, run by Alex Kwon ("we", "us"). By using this site you agree to these terms.
Using this site
- You're welcome to read, link to and quote anything here, with credit.
- Reading the site with automated tools is fine at a reasonable pace. A summary for language models is at /llms.txt.
- Don't try to break, overload or get around the site's security. Good-faith security research is welcome under our security policy.
Research, as is
Everything here is research: papers, tools, case studies and HOBO. It's shared in good faith and provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Numbers are reported as measured, with how they were measured; check them against your own data before you rely on them.
HOBO early access
- It's prerelease. HOBO may change, have errors, or stop working at any time, and early access may change or end. Signing up doesn't guarantee access.
- A person stays in charge. Don't use HOBO to make decisions about people's health, safety, money, jobs or legal rights without a person reviewing each one. Its confidence tells you when to hand a decision to a person; it doesn't replace that person.
- Your data is your responsibility. Only send HOBO data you're allowed to share. How we handle what you send is on the privacy page.
- The API and private installs come with their own terms, agreed before you use them. HOBO's weights aren't licensed to anyone under these terms.
Code and content
- Code: each repository's own license applies (most are Apache 2.0). See the license file in each repository.
- Papers: each paper's own license applies, as stated on the paper or where it's published.
- Site text and images: © Alex Kwon, unless a page says otherwise.
- Datasets, benchmarks and models named on this site belong to their authors and are used under their licenses.
The HOBO name and look
"HOBO", the HOBO character (the little robot in the yellow raincoat), its logo and artwork, and "Collapse Index Labs" are our trademarks.
- You're welcome to use the name HOBO to talk about it: to describe it, review it, compare it with other models, or say that you use it, as long as what you say is accurate.
- Ask us first before you use the HOBO name in the name of your own product, model, dataset, service or account (including "HOBO-" names for fine-tunes, wrappers or forks), use the HOBO character, logo or artwork, or register a domain, handle or trademark that could be confused with HOBO.
- Don't suggest we're behind something we aren't. Don't imply that we endorse, sponsor, certify or partner with you or your product unless we've agreed to it in writing.
- Keep results honest. If you publish HOBO's results, say how you got them, and don't present edited, simulated or another model's outputs as HOBO's.
Using HOBO
If you use HOBO through the API or a private install:
- Don't reverse engineer it. Don't decompile, disassemble or inspect it to work out its weights, architecture, training data or training methods, and don't probe it with requests designed to do the same, except where the law allows that whatever these terms say.
- Don't copy it. Don't use its answers or its confidence to train a model that competes with it, and don't try to extract, copy or rebuild the model from its answers.
- Private installs stay private. Don't copy, share or move the model files beyond what your agreement allows, or run them for anyone outside it.
- Don't resell it or offer access to it under another name.
Testing HOBO and publishing what you find is welcome (see "Keep results honest" above), and so is good-faith security research under our security policy. The API and private-install terms set out the details.
Not affiliated
HOBO is built on a publicly released base model, used under its license. Collapse Index Labs isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any company whose models, datasets or products are named on this site.
Other sites
Links to other sites are there because they're useful. We don't control them, and their own terms apply once you're there.
Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows:
- We aren't liable for any indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits, lost data or business interruption, that comes from using this site, its research, or HOBO's early access.
- For anything else, if we're found to owe you anything at all, the most we'll owe is what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. If you haven't paid us anything, that limit is $50.
Nothing here limits rights you have that the law doesn't let anyone take away.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Santa Clara County, California.
Changes
These terms may change, especially when the HOBO API opens. The date at the top says when they last did.
